Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American actor in stage and films. Her most famous role is in the role of Teri, the passionate attorney Teri Jospehson in the Showtime TV series Soul Food. Following her marriage the actress is now known as Nikki Kodjoe. From the time she was a child, Nikki Kodjoe was a natural actor. In a Maryland contest for students in high school, she was awarded the prize for the Best Actress. Contractor was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria over seven years was awash with cultural experiences and travels at very young. After boarding school, during seven years of London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she spent most of her youth as well as her early years of adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It's a high school that teaches arts in which she didn't just take classes in theater but also performed as well. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting would become her profession. She danced for almost 10 year. She was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's degree in theatre and double majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having completed her university degree, went on to audition in an open audition for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. After 92 performances, she received glowing reviews. The play was deemed the top production by Canadian critics. Contractor accepted an invitation to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men and four females are admitted for the 20-week course in classical theater. Contractor's participation in the next season's production was confirmed. She got the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
